I am proud to announce I have secured funding in the 2023-24 Budget to deliver significant new drainage infrastructure for Ashgrove, provide safer access to local schools, upgrade our drainage, improve our parks, and support community events.
SAFER ACCESS TO OAKLEIGH STATE SCHOOL
& MARIST COLLEGE ASHGROVE
Council will improve the loading zone on Ashbourne Street to make it safer for all students and carers at Oakleigh State School. Works will address the slope to deliver a new footpath at road height to help ease congestion for drivers and students at pick-up time. Additional improvements will be undertaken near the entrance to the school to help both pedestrians and cyclists.
Nearby, the Mirrabooka Road pedestrian bridge will be upgraded for both Oakleigh State School and Marist College Ashgrove students. This includes design and replacement of cracked panels with new decking materials to improve this important active school travel connection.

BETTER DRAINAGE AND FLOOD RESILIENCE
Drainage improvements are an important part of my commitment to supporting Enoggera Ward residents. I have secured funding to continue drainage upgrades in Ashgrove in 2023-24. Following initial works in Venus Street last financial year, ongoing works will continue through Frasers Road, south to Dorrington Park. Construction of new drainage through this corridor will improve outcomes and reduce flooding to nearby residential properties.

MORE EVENTS AND UPGRADES FOR DORRINGTON PARK
The Dorrington Park dog off-leash area will be upgraded including fence repair, turf rehabilitation, new topsoil, seeding, fertilisation, and additional turf where required. I have also committed funding to support the annual Rotary Carols by Candlelight, something our community celebrates every December. I look forward to seeing you there!
Upgrading our community facilities is part of my ongoing commitment to improving our suburbs and making Enoggera Ward an even better place to live.
