Facilities at Westside Football Club are set to receive a revamp with thanks to more than $115,000 in funding from Brisbane City Council.

The club will receive a new footpath from the carpark to the clubhouse, a disability compliant accessible toilet, carpark line marking changes for disability enabled, new ramp to clubhouse, and minor internal works including modification of the customer service counter.

Cr Wines said Brisbane City Council funded the works to ensure people of all abilities were catered for when attending games or training.

“The upgrade will be enjoyed by the Westside community and it will also make the football experience a little bit easier for participants in the Brisbane Paralympic Football League.”

Founder of the Brisbane Paralympic Football Program Jay Larkins said the works would be hugely beneficial for the wider community.

Mr Larkins said the new upgrades would improve accessibility between the club and the carpark.

“The works wont only benefit our club but they will be embraced by all other sports clubs,” he said.

The upgrade is expected to commence in July, weather permitting.
