The Alderley Suburban Centre Improvement Project is well underway and is set to re-energise and breathe new life into the suburb.
The multimillion dollar project, initiated by Brisbane City Council, will see more than $6 million spent on improving look of the long standing shops with new public art, footpaths, gardens, seating, bins and bike racks.
“It will change peoples’ perceptions of not only the centre, but also of the whole suburb,” Cr Wines said.
The works also include drainage improvements for South Pine Rd and the installation of a new kerb and channel, followed by road resurfacing.
The initiative is set to not only boost business for the precinct but will also make the Alderley shops a far more attractive place to shop, especially with the new Coles development set to open in mid 2017.
Construction is expected to be completed in April.
