Everton Park Junior Australian Football Club, Everton Park Junior Rugby League Football Club, Mayne Tigers Australian Football Club and Ashgrove Cricket Club have all received grants from Council with the combined total exceeding $200,000 to improve facilities and game quality.
Cr Andrew Wines said this was a great result to ensure the success of the clubs well into the future.
“These four clubs have been in our area for decades, with one club celebrating 100 years and another in their 90 th year,” he said.
“It is fantastic to have these clubs in the area and for them to be doing so well. I am proud that Council can assist to improve facilities to ensure they keep playing for years to come.”
President of Mayne Football Club Russell Ditchburn thanked Council for their continuous support.
“The benefit to clubs across the city who are supported through these community sports club grants and the overall benefits to the community cannot be overstated and we are truly grateful for the assistance to our project,” he said.
The grants have been awarded to the clubs, however, construction dates will be determined by each organisation.
